My first question is are you using a full Enterprise BES or one of the other versions (Professional, Quickstart, Etc) since the requirements are different?
If you have a small user population and are only going to use the BES for email and PIM sync then you should be OK, but understand that the full Enterprise version is not supported on top of the mail server and may prevent you from getting a support ticket resolved if it is not possible to tell which piece is failing.
If you are going to to run MDS Studio applications or other server intensive tasks (DB server on same machine) you will see a decrease in server performance, so you should be aware of this possibility.
I have been a Rim business partner for about four years and have not seen to many issues with the all-in-one BES on Domino, since the 2.2 days, but I do not have any clients currently running in this configuration. If you want to discuss specifics I am happy to help.
